The Mental Health Museum, It’s Collection is Unusual

The mental health museum is on the first list of unique museum recommendations. This museum is located in Jenderal Ahmad Yani Street, Lawang sub-district, Malang Regency. 

This is the first and only mental health museum in Indonesia that has a collection of 700 items and ancient documents. These items are related to the history of Dr. Radjiman Wediodiningrat Mental Health Hospital located in Lawang.

The mental hospital itself was built during the colonial era and it is considered the biggest mental health hospital in Southeast Asia. 

This unique museum is open from Monday to Friday, starting from 8 AM to 3 PM. The aim of this museum is to educate society regarding history as well as the development of medical technology, especially in the mental health field. 

The Precious Stone Museum of Brawijaya University, The Sparks Blinded The Eye

One of the corners at the Rectorat Building of Brawijaya University in Malang City has always captured people’s attention. People who pass by are always stunned by the dazzling sparks of hundreds of precious stones.

This corner itself is named the Museum of Nusantara’s Precious Stone of Brawijaya University.  This museum is managed by the Center of Civilization Studies of Brawijaya University.

Besides having stones coming from all over Indonesia, this museum also categorized the stone by its type with various forms and sizes.

Every stone is given a name. Some of them are chrysophanol, coral fossil, bentonite, chalcedony, red jasper, black obsidian, and many others. 

You can enjoy the displayed items in this museum without paying any money. It sounds like a good place to visit, right?

The Omah Munir Museum, Let’s Learn About Human Rights

Some people might not know about Munir. Munir Said Thalib or usually called Munir was a famous human rights activist in Indonesia.

He was murdered with poisons in the plane in the year 2004. Due to his struggle, Munir got the award from the Sweden Government called “The Right Livelihood Award” in the year 2020.

The Omah Munir Museum itself was built in 2013 in honor of the legacy of Munir Said Thalib. This museum is built in a land of 290 square meters. 

The first aim in building this unique museum is to provide audiovisual information regarding Munir and its struggle in defending human rights in Indonesia.

The Zoology Museum of Frater Vianney

The last recommendation of a unique museum in Malang is The Zoology Museum of Frater Vianney. This museum is located in Raya Karang Widoro Street No.7, Karangesuki village, Dau sub-district, Malang Regency.

The museum is open from Monday to Saturday, starting from 8 AM until 12 PM. It will open again from 4 PM until 6 PM.

Hundreds of collections of conchology specimens are widely shown at the Zoology Museum of Frater Vianney. You can also find the specimen collection of herpetology here. 

Interestingly, those hundreds of collections have been fully classified. In order to maintain these museum collections, people should pay for ticket entrance.  

The ticket is not expensive, if you are still an elementary school student the ticket price will cost you IDR 10k.

However, if you are already a high school student, you need to pay between IDR12k – 15k. And if you are a college student, you need to pay IDR 20k.

You may also visit this museum with your family. You can pay a donation amount to enter this museum since it aims to educate people about zoology.
